Refund Policy
Effective date: 1 February 2026
1. General Principles
1.1. This Refund Policy outlines the conditions under which refunds are issued by Dasha Photography (the ‘Photographer’).
1.2. By paying the booking fee, the Client acknowledges that they have read and agreed to these cancellation and refund terms.
2. Standard Cancellations (Engagement & Proposal Photography)
For smaller, non-wedding sessions, the following refund tiers apply to any balance paid:
2.1. More than 14 days’ notice: A full refund of the balance paid will be issued, excluding the 20% non-refundable booking fee.
2.2. 7 to 14 days’ notice: A 50% refund of the total amount paid (excluding the booking fee) will be issued.
2.3. Less than 7 days’ notice: No refund will be issued. At the Photographer's sole discretion, the session may be rescheduled once, subject to the fees outlined in the Booking Terms.
3. Large-Scale Cancellations (Wedding & Elopement Photography)
Due to the significant administrative work and the difficulty of re-booking peak dates, the following rules apply:
3.1. 30 days or more notice: The 20% booking fee remains non-refundable. Any additional balance paid toward the services will be returned in full.
3.2. Less than 30 days’ notice: No refund of the booking fee or any balance payments will be issued.
4. Non-Refundable Items and Expenses
4.1. Booking Fee: The 20% booking fee is strictly non-refundable in all circumstances of Client cancellation, as it covers administrative costs, consultations, and the reservation of the date.
4.2. Third-Party Costs: Any expenses already incurred by the Photographer on behalf of the Client (e.g., location permits, non-refundable travel bookings, studio hire, or equipment rentals) will be deducted from any eligible refund.
4.3. Delivered Products: Digital or physical products already delivered to the Client are non-refundable.
5. Force Majeure (Extraordinary Events)
5.1. Neither party is liable for cancellations caused by events beyond reasonable control, such as natural disasters, extreme weather, or government-mandated lockdowns.
5.2. In such events, both parties will first attempt to find a mutually agreeable reschedule date.
5.3. If a new date cannot be agreed upon, the Photographer will refund the booking fee minus any documented administrative costs and non-refundable third-party expenses already incurred in preparation for the session.
6. Photographer Cancellations
6.1. Illness or Emergency: If the Photographer must cancel due to unforeseen illness or emergency, the Client will be offered a priority reschedule or a full refund (including the booking fee).
6.2. Wedding Replacements: For Wedding and Elopement bookings, the Photographer will make every reasonable effort to secure a replacement photographer of a similar professional style and quality before issuing a refund.
7. Lateness and "No-Show"
7.1. As per the Booking Terms, if the Client is more than 30 minutes late without prior notification, the session is considered a "No-Show".
7.2. In the event of a No-Show, the session is cancelled, and no refund of the booking fee or balance will be provided.
8. Processing of Refunds
8.1. Timeline: Approved refunds will be processed within 10 business days.
8.2. Method: Refunds will be issued via the original payment method (Stripe or Direct Bank Transfer).
8.3. Statutory Rights: This policy does not limit the Client's rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. If a service is not provided with reasonable care and skill, the Client is entitled to remedies as prescribed by New Zealand law.
